Program Volunteers

Join us at the Nelson Enrichment Club & become a beacon of hope & support for families in need!

Volunteering for the Nelson Enrichment Club is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our community. Your efforts will not only enhance the lives of those with memory loss but also offer a restorative break to their dedicated caregivers, making a profound impact on the entire community.

Individuals with memory loss are often isolated, and engaging social interactions make a positive difference in their quality of life. By volunteering for the Nelson Enrichment Club, you'll provide vital companionship and stimulating activities to those who need it most. Additionally, caregivers for individuals with memory loss are often overextended, and providing them with respite to attend to their own needs is important to their well-being and ability to continue providing care.

There are two ways to volunteer with the Nelson Enrichment Club: as a Program Volunteer, or as a Special Session Volunteer.

Program Volunteer

Program Volunteers interact more closely with program participants, and ideally volunteer on a regular, ongoing basis. As a program volunteer, you will receive specialized training to effectively assist individuals with memory loss, ensuring that you feel confident and capable in your role. You will be supported by the Program Director, Lead Volunteers, and the rest of the Volunteer team, creating a collaborative and supportive environment.

Special Session Volunteer

Special Session Volunteers join us occasionally, to share skills such as musical performance, specialized arts and crafts lessons, pet therapy, or specialized fitness or dance offerings. As a Special Session Volunteer, you provide fun and novel experiences that are stimulating and engaging for program participants.

An in-depth application process will be conducted. If you’d like to apply, here are the next steps:

  1. Read the POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL

  2. Fill out and submit the application for either Program Volunteer or Special Session Volunteer (see links listed above).

  3. If you have questions after reading through the application and the program policies and procedures, they can be directed to: info@nelsonrespite.org

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Club!

If your Volunteer application is selected, we will be in touch to schedule a conversation to tell you more about the program and find out more about you. Our volunteer application process is carefully conducted by members of our advisory committee, who are themselves volunteers. Please be patient with our team, as it takes time to sort through applications.

However, if you have not heard from us within two weeks of submitting an application online or by email (or within three weeks of mailing it in to us), you can email us to verify that we received your application materials: info@nelsonrespite.org
